Visit Oman celebrates five years of digital transformation

Visit Oman, the National Travel Operator and a subsidiary of OMRAN Group, is celebrating its five-year anniversary, highlighting its journey of digitally connecting Oman to the world. The initiative has empowered local tourism suppliers and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) through global digital distribution across travel trade and consumer channels.

Eng. Ayad Ali Al Balushi, Group CEO of OMRAN Group, stated, “Five years ago, Visit Oman set out to make booking Oman seamless and accessible to the world, whilst ensuring long-term sustainability for our local tourism providers.” The platform now serves as a unified travel platform, bridging global demand with Omani supply through advanced technology.

Over the past five years, Visit Oman has launched a fully digital B2B booking platform, achieved International Air Transport Association (IATA) certification, and integrated with the Global Distribution System (GDS). It has partnered with over 85 airlines, including Oman Air and Salam Air, and connected with more than 140 hotels across Oman. The platform has onboarded over 390 trade partners from 55 countries and connected with over 250 local tourism providers, 80% of which are SMEs.

In 2024, Visit Oman launched the ‘Digital Travel Hub’ (B2B2C), enabling global distribution of Omani tours in multiple languages across 170 markets. It also introduced Oman’s first licenced short-stay accommodation platform, expanding visitor options with eco-lodges and heritage inns.

Shabib Mohamed Al Maamari, Managing Director of Visit Oman, emphasised the future focus on expanding digital distribution of Omani tourism experiences and empowering local providers. Visit Oman continues to support government objectives for diversification and sustainable growth, enhancing the visitor experience from inspiration to conversion
