5 Exciting New Nonstop Flights Launching For Americans This Month (Including A Historic First)
You know that excitement when you get on a plane knowing you will land at your destination without the stress of a layover? After twenty years of traveling the globe, I can comfortably say layovers have been the cause of 90% of my travel stress. So when airlines announce brand new nonstop flights, I am always checking to see where I can go next.

As pumpkin spiced latte season and fall travel kick into high gear, major airlines are rolling out some of their most exciting network updates of the entire year. If you hate sitting around crowded airport terminals waiting on a connection, this month brings massive upgrades to your travel map. Airlines are officially launching a slew of brand new nonstop routes, completely eliminating the need for exhausting layovers to reach several incredible destinations.
Whether you are looking to explore a completely new continent, dive into the deep cultural heart of Mexico, or just catch a quick weekend flight down to the Florida coast, the flight board is getting a major refresh. This month brings everything from a massive expansion connecting smaller American hubs directly to international hotspots, to a historic first ever route at the bottom of this list that changes travel forever.

Here are 5 of the most exciting new domestic and international nonstop routes officially taking flight for American travelers this month.
Southwest And Allegiant Flood Florida And Wine Country
For travelers looking to stay stateside, budget carriers are flooding the map with cheap domestic routes this month. Allegiant is currently rolling out a massive expansion across Florida. They are launching brand new nonstop routes connecting Boston to Fort Lauderdale, while also linking St. Pete Clearwater and Punta Gorda to cities like Philadelphia and Omaha.

Southwest Airlines is also jumping into the fall route rush. Starting this month, Southwest is connecting Austin directly to the heart of California wine country with a new nonstop flight to Sonoma County.
They are also launching a direct flight from Austin to the pristine white sand beaches of Destin Fort Walton Beach in Florida. For travelers in Nashville, Southwest is adding direct flights to Reno Tahoe and Manchester Boston, making fall foliage trips or early ski trips incredibly easy to book without spending hours sitting in a terminal.
On top of that, they are restoring nonstop service between Memphis and Austin, ending a ten year gap for travelers looking for a quick music focused weekend getaway.
Volaris Connects Five Major US Cities To Guadalajara

If you are tired of the same old crowded beach resorts and want to experience authentic Mexican culture, food, and music, Guadalajara needs to be on your radar.
Volaris is making that easier than ever this month. Over the course of October, the Mexican budget airline is launching five brand new direct routes connecting the United States directly to Guadalajara.

Travelers in Atlanta, Boston, Nashville, Raleigh Durham, and Washington Dulles will now have direct access to one of Mexico’s most vibrant cultural capitals. This is especially huge for cities like Raleigh Durham and Nashville, which often get overlooked for direct international routes.
Guadalajara is the undisputed birthplace of mariachi music and tequila, making it the absolute perfect destination for a foodie focused weekend getaway without the massive beach resort price tag.
United Airlines Pushes Deeper Into Mexico

United is also making some serious moves south of the border this month. The airline is launching exciting new direct flights to Mexico starting in October, giving American travelers incredible options for both luxury beach escapes and rugged jungle adventures.
First, United is opening a direct route from Washington Dulles to San Jose del Cabo. Cabo has always been a massive favorite for West Coast travelers, but this new route opens up easy, nonstop access for the East Coast market right as the winter escapes start to heat up.

Even more exciting is United’s new direct connection from Houston Intercontinental to Tuxtla Gutierrez, the capital of Chiapas. This marks the absolute first direct connection between the state of Chiapas and the United States since 2013. Chiapas is an incredibly lush, mountainous state in southern Mexico packed with ancient ruins, massive waterfalls, and deep indigenous culture. It is the perfect spot for adventurous travelers looking to get completely off the beaten path and explore true nature.
United Returns To Tokyo Narita

For anyone eyeing a bucket list trip to Japan, the flight options are getting much better. On October 24, United Airlines will officially restore its daily nonstop service between Chicago O’Hare and Tokyo Narita.

Japan has been experiencing a massive tourism boom over the last two years, largely due to an incredibly favorable exchange rate that makes the country cheaper for Americans than it has been in decades. You can eat world class sushi and stay in beautiful hotels for a fraction of what it costs in the United States. United already operates flights into Tokyo Haneda, but bringing back the Narita route using their Boeing 787 Dreamliner adds a ton of extra capacity and flexibility for American travelers heading to Asia this fall.
Delta Makes History With Direct Flights To Saudi Arabia

The biggest and most historic route launch of the month belongs to Delta Air Lines, and it completely changes the game for Middle Eastern travel. Starting on October 23, Delta will officially launch daily nonstop service between Atlanta and Riyadh. This is a massive deal in the aviation world because it marks the very first time a United States based airline will operate a nonstop flight directly to Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia is currently pouring billions of dollars into developing massive luxury tourism regions along the Red Sea and ancient heritage sites in AlUla. Until now, Americans wanting to explore this rapidly changing country had to endure long layovers in Europe or connect through hubs in Qatar or the United Arab Emirates. Delta is using its flagship Airbus A350 aircraft for the route, offering direct, comfortable access to a region that is actively trying to become the next massive global tourist hub.
